of Growth and Maturity
According to wikipedia Growth refers to an increase in some quantity over time.Be it physical or abstract.
Maturity,however,has multiple meanings.
What I was looking for was actually the last meaning. How many of you can actually say that you’ve truly matured?I can’t, that’s for sure.See,if I were already at a high level of maturity,I’d be able to “respond” appropriately to certain events or circumstances. For instance, I still find myself disappointed when my best friends do things without telling me;things that they know,I’d be devastated if I were to find out.If I were matured I’d simply feel nothing because I would already have this fact soldered into my brain:no matter how strong your bond is with people, you cannot control what they do,who they choose to do it with and how they feel towards you.Another example,I STILL find myself reminiscing over form 3 memories because I find them the most interesting of events in my life.I also still always remember her, even though I tell myself not to.I still find myself saddened by the fact that she loved him, even though I gave her all I had.A matured person would just move on with his life, because chasing phantoms, get you nowhere =).
Growth however is a totally different story.I could say,”I’ve grown 3 centimetres this year!YAY!”or “After 4 months of intense training,I have grown stroooooong!”
…..or the occasional ‘men’s locker-room chat’
Dan:Woah dude yours is huge!
Bob:Meh,I’m pretty sure it’s the same size as last week.
Dan:No man it certainly HAS GROWN BIGGER!I mean seriously that is HUMONGOUS!
Bob:Now that you’ve mentioned it,I think you’re right.
Dan: Duuuuh.Man that looks tasty…
Bob:You want some?I can’t finish it on my own
Dan:Thanks man!I’d love some of your…
SANDWICH,what were you guys thinking of!!!??(Lame I know, but I try to be funny every now and then =) )
Anyway it’s pretty darn clear that maturity and growth are two different things.Growth has helped me overcome many things in 2010 and the years before it.
I have grown from a small kid who used to say “Eeeee, you like herr!!” to a teenager who says “Ahh I see,so you have a crush on her.Go for it man,you have my support all the way!”.I have grown from chasing someone who doesn’t love me, to finding for someone who accepts me for who I am.I have grown from a hateful person to a less hateful one hahaha. And many more ‘growths’,which will probably bore you people reading this, but try listing down yours. You’ll be amazed
I’d like to thank these people, for helping me grow. For helping me getting a liiiiittttlleeee bit more matured.(Just a little =p,I’m still just a kid/manchild/teenager).Thanks guys, for making 2010,a great year for me.P/s:IM REALLY FORGETFUL SO PLEASE SMS ME OR SEND ME A MESSAGE ON MSN IF I FORGOT ANY OF YOU!SORREEEEEH
